How Can You Motivate your Employees? – 7 (Seven) Ways to Help You Get Started

This is another issue a lot of businesses face in today’s world. Employees need to be constantly motivated to increase their productivity. A lot of business owners usually make the mistake of thinking that it would require a lot of resources, but that’s not always the case. Infact, just taking a few minutes of your day to commend your employees’ efforts on a task would go a long way.

As a business owner, you definitely want your business to become a worldwide empire, which is a good dream but if you must achieve this, you’ll need your employees. Their role in making this dream a reality must not be underestimated.  You’ll need them to work as efficiently as possible.

What keeps you motivated and pushes you to work as hard as you do may not always be found in your employees. You’ll constantly need to encourage and motivate them if you want them to produce the result you want.

So, how do you go about this? Here are 7 (Seven) ways to help you get started.

1. Regularly Communicate with them

If you’re nothing more than a facade on a bulletin or a name on an email, what motivation will your employees have to meet the goals? The importance of employer-employee communication is often overlooked. Communicating with employees frequently, and face-to-face makes them feel valued and it shows you appreciate their hard work.

2. Lead them by Example

Leading by example is a good way to raise your employees’ spirit. If you show your enthusiasm about the company’s goals, your employees will get committed and work to achieve those goals. Good moods are always communicable, especially in the workplace.

3. Listen to their Voices

Give your employees a say in how they do their job. Ask for their contributions and get ideas on how they can increase their act. Most employees have ideas about how they can be more resourceful, but they may not share them with you unless you specifically ask them.

4. Allow them the Opportunity to Grow

Everyone works more efficiently when they know they’re working towards something. If they catch an air of opportunity for advancement, they put in all their best. Nobody wants to work an impasse job. Motivate your employees by offering training that will give them the skills they’ll need to climb their career ladders.

5. Reward them with Incentives

Incentives are something that incites or tends to incite action or greater effort and are always motivation boosters. You can offer incentives like an extra paid day-off, cash rewards, gift cards, tickets to the movies, or other low-cost ways to show your appreciation.

6. Allow them to Take the Lead Sometimes

Motivating your employees doesn’t stop at you giving them bonuses, holidays…and the likes. They want to be heard too. Sometimes, give them the chance individually to take the lead on different projects. This way, they’ll feel valued and motivated to put in their best so that they don’t let you down.

7. Let Them Know you have Confidence in Them

If your employees know that you have confidence in them, they will go a long way for you, and would not want to disappoint you. Your confidence in them can boost their performance. They will always try as much as possible to produce the best result possible on any task.

There you have it. Consistently motivating your employees is a key role in business success. If you start out with these methods, you can rest assured that your business will experience a lower amount of employee turnover.
